Buchanan Ingersoll and Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling will merge on July 1, as approved by the firms' shareholders Tuesday. Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney will be the largest firm in Pennsylvania, with roughly 313 lawyers in the state, and more than 525 nationwide. The intra-city merger was the first in Pittsburgh since at least 20 years ago and is predicted by at least one shareholder to possibly set off similar mergers among other law firms.

Buchanan Ingersoll and Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling have become one after a shareholder vote at both firms Tuesday morning gave the merger the go-ahead.
The new firm, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, will become the largest law firm in Pennsylvania — in terms of number of attorneys in the state — with roughly 313 lawyers according to the last survey conducted by PaLaw. As a whole, the firm will have more than 525 attorneys nationwide.
