Attorney Denise Ansell asserts that Connecticut Judicial Department officials have illegally cut her off from appointed counsel work in juvenile courts in retaliation for her requests to have family court judges recused from some of her cases. Ansell and her Ansell Laben Law Offices are now suing three judicial branch officials in a federal court, alleging that one court employee told her office it would not get a new contract for court-appointed work unless none of the work would be done by Ansell.

New London, Conn., attorney Denise Ansell and her Ansell Laben Law Offices are suing three judicial branch officials on grounds they conspired to deprive her of a contract for appointed counsel work in juvenile courts.
In a U.S. District Court case before Mark R. Kravitz, Ansell contends that her requests to have family court judges recused resulted in retaliation by three judicial branch officials sued in their individual capacity. The case is currently scheduled to go to trial in May.
