Tenet Healthcare said Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with the state of Florida to settle a dispute involving Medicare payments. The hospital operator has agreed to pay $7 million: $4 million to start a fund for uninsured patients in 13 county hospital districts in Florida, and $3 million to go to the Florida Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and public hospitals. The settlement resolves a civil suit filed by the state's attorney general in 2005 on behalf of the 13 county hospital districts.
