A Texas nonprofit is warning grassroots conservatives that W. Mark Lanier and other personal injury lawyers have infiltrated the Republican Party to thwart tort reforms. The group's "shark watch" report contends that the lawyers have poured money into GOP campaigns to drive a wedge through the party on civil justice issues. The "Shark Watch" project director says Texans for Texas doesn't have a problem with all trial lawyers who contribute to Republicans, only those who "promote the blame culture."
