After college football player Rashidi Wheeler died during a practice in August 2001, his estate filed a lawsuit that blamed Northwestern University for failing to respond quickly to his asthma attack.
But the university responded by filing contribution claims in which they blamed Wheeler’s death on the manufacturers of “endurance enhancing” dietary supplements that contained ephedra.
