Setting the stage for a December sentencing, a New York federal judge has rejected defense attorney Lynne Stewart's bid for a judgment of acquittal on charges she gave material support to a terrorist conspiracy by acting as a willing conduit for an imprisoned terrorist. Stewart was also convicted of conspiracy to defraud the United States for obstructing the Justice Department's attempts to impose special administrative measures on her client, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman.

Defense attorney Lynne Stewart’s bid for a judgment of acquittal on charges she provided material support to a terrorist conspiracy by acting as a willing conduit for an imprisoned terrorist has been rejected by Southern District of New York Judge John Koeltl.
Setting the stage for Stewart to be sentenced in December, Koeltl rejected several arguments made by her legal team in pursuit of a judgment of acquittal or a new trial.
