With some experts saying the real battle against illegal immigration should be in the workplace rather than the border, a group of businesses across the country is quietly testing a Homeland Security program that can check immigration status with a few clicks on the Internet. The program will likely be at the heart of any federal immigration reform, although it's already come under criticism. Says one expert, "If we're not ready to give up cheap labor, then we should shut up about illegal immigrants."
