Supreme Court nominee John Roberts showed sympathy for the idea of permitting prayer in public schools in 1985, according to a memo included in nearly 5,400 pages of records released Monday from Roberts' tenure in the office of White House counsel in the Reagan Administration. The records indicate that Roberts provided legal analysis on such topics as recess appointments, "confusing" Supreme Court opinions, and White House attention to pop stars Michael Jackson and Prince.
