A federal judge in San Francisco put the recording industry's copyright infringement suit against Napster on hold in response to requests from both sides while they seek a possible settlement. U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel has delayed issuing a decision in the suit against Napster until Feb. 17. Napster chief executive Konrad Hilbers said he's confident the legal downtime will lead to a deal with the record labels.
