NEW HIRES Philadelphia’s Cozen & O’Connor has hired two new attorneys. Rafeal Perez joins the firm’s Newark, N.J., office as a member of the public and private project finance group and the Latin American practice group. He was previously with Morristown, N.J.’s Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Philip G. Kircher joins the firm’s home office as a member of the business litigation group. He was previously a partner with Philadelphia’s Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis. He received his J.D. from Villanova University in 1976. Greenberg Traurig has hired two new shareholders. Richard S. Miller has joined the firm’s New York office as a shareholder and chair of the reorganization, bankruptcy & restructuring department in New York and co-chair of the national practice group. He was previously with New York’s Dewey Ballantine, where he was a member. He received his J.D. from New York University Law School. Vincent H. Chieffo, 55, has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a shareholder in the intellectual property and entertainment practice areas. He was previously a member at Los Angeles’ Gipson Hoffman & Pancione. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Columbia University School of Law in 1970. Judge Seymour Benson, a Seminole County, Fla., Circuit Judge, has joined the Orlando office of Tampa’s Holland & Knight. He is senior counsel in the firm’s marital and family law practice area. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. Cleveland’s Baker & Hostetler announces that Kimberly R. Wells has been elected to partnership in its Los Angeles office. Wells, 32, concentrates her practice in the area of employment litigation and counseling on employment issues. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 1993. Torys announced the addition of two new partners and two new associates in the firm’s New York office. Partners Bill Gray and Emanuel Grillo join existing partner Jerry Muntz in the firm’s bankruptcy and restructuring practice. Associates Alison Bauer and Darien Leung also join Torys in the bankruptcy and restructuring practice. Dewey Ballantine announced that Michael J. Sage has joined the firm as partner in its New York-based bankruptcy practice. Sage is formerly a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. NEW OFFICES Dorsey & Whitney will expand their Asian practice with an office in Shanghai. The office is expected to open in the next month. The office will operate under the supervision of Z. Alex Zhang, who opened the firm’s Hong Kong office in 1995. NEW POSITIONS Raleigh, N.C.-based Poyner & Spruill has announced that David M. Barnes, a partner in the firm’s home office, will join the legislative and regulatory practice group to work on lobbying efforts. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University in 1985.
