In a warning to merging companies to keep competing until a deal closes, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Computer Associates International over its purchase of Platinum Technology International. The DOJ said that the companies' merger agreement imposed "extraordinary conduct of business restrictions" on the seller, preventing the companies from competing while regulators reviewed the deal.
