It's not that Florida's judges have been particularly naughty, but they shouldn't be expecting a sleigh full of gifts next Christmas. The Florida Supreme Court's Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee strongly discouraged judges and their staffs from accepting gifts from lawyers and others in response to a question posed by an unidentified judge. "May a judge and/or court employee accept gifts, including money and redeemable gift certificates, from lawyers, vendors or other third parties?" the judge asked.
