ARE YOU BEING SERVED?
Support staff in the D.C. office of Boston’s Hale and Dorr turned the tables on two senior partners at a recent luncheon. In honor of National Secretary’s Day, corporate partners Gilbert Kaplan and Steven Snider scurried to clear plates and refill glasses, while the firm’s approximately 50 secretaries, paralegals, and other staff members dined on filet mignon and chocolate mousse in the firm’s conference room. “They’re a very demanding group,” Snider jokes. “But no more demanding than the lawyers are during the year.” Meanwhile, firms across town threw their own employee appreciation celebrations. At the D.C. office of Holland & Knight, the firm’s nearly 200 nonlawyer employees were indulged for the entire week.
