In 1991, investors and employees in pharmaceuticals company Aldencare viewed their stock certificates as a promise of future financial rewards. The Florida company prospered, changing its name to CompScript in 1995. But when the company merged in June 1998 with Omnicare, the outlook changed. In a lawsuit, 19 original Aldencare shareholders claim they are owed between $2 million and $5 million for stock never reissued in the name of CompScript or registered publicly before the merger with OmniCare.
