A self-described “natural born killer” is finally being tried for murder and 10 other felonies stemming from a crime spree that made national news nearly five years ago.

Opening arguments in the trial of Christopher Matthew Smith, 22, began Tuesday in Cartersville, Ga. where a judge moved the case, determining an impartial jury couldn’t be seated in Stephens County, site of the crimes.
