Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe attorneys are literally ditching their old suits and ties for casual costumes and more seemingly gregarious garb. Chinos and Charter Club are the order of the day now, and Orrick lawyers are dumping piles and piles of old suits, ties and shirts into large Goodwill bins scattered about the firm’s downtown San Francisco office. The idea is to deliver the mountains of multi-check sports coats and Chanel suits to needy people who cannot afford a trip to Macy’s or the Men’s Wearhouse. But one peek through the barrels and it is obvious that Orrick attorneys differ on the definition of “dressed for success.” A recent rummage through the clothes revealed a pair of black lace women’s panties near the top of one pile. A member of the firm said a “massive” pair of Victoria’s Secret white thong underwear had been deposited a few days earlier. Asked for comment about the used lingerie, partner-in-charge Jesse Markham said, “I don’t know how anything gets in there.”
