A federal judge in New York says the motion picture industry is likely to prevail in its copyright infringement claim against individuals distributing DVD decryption software over the Internet.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan issued a memorandum opinion on Wednesday that refutes each argument raised by the software distributors in defense of a complaint brought by the motion picture industry. The memorandum is in support of a preliminary injunction Kaplan issued in January.
