SBC Communications Inc. has hired New York’s Sullivan & Cromwell, and Prodigy Communications Corp. has retained Boston’s Hale and Dorr L.L.P., to handle legal work on the joining of their Internet businesses. Under the terms of the $900 million deal, SBC and Prodigy will create a limited partnership providing business and consumer Internet services. Prodigy will have a 57% stake, and SBC a 43% stake, in the limited partnership.

The Sullivan & Cromwell attorneys representing SBC are partners Joseph B. Frumkin and Andrew S. Mason, special counsel Keith A. Pagnani and associates Daniel G. Dufner, Michael I. Schwartz, J. David Enriquez, David C. Spitzer and Michael A. Foley. Thomas Giltner, senior counsel, is the SBC in-house attorney involved.
