Susan Davis freely admits that she is not much of a baseball fan. So when the veteran labor lawyer began representing the Major League Umpires Association late last month in their grievance against Major League Baseball before the National Labor Relations Board, it did not take long for her colleagues to make cracks. Kidding aside, Davis's baseball education is now on the fast track, as the union attempts to gain the reinstatement of 22 umpires who are scheduled to lose their jobs Thursday.
