Steven Lee, a former Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati associate, was arrested April 30 in Palo Alto, California, for duping Wilson Sonsini about his license to practice. Lee had been hired and fired by six other law firms across the country since 1993, including Kaye Scholer, Bryan Cave, Howrey & Simon and Mayer Brown & Platt. He was trying to get a job at Proskauer Rose’s L.A. office when the law caught up with him. After graduation from Boston College Law School, Lee failed the Massachusetts bar but lied to his first firm that he passed. He then passed the New York bar but failed the ethics committee review and was never licensed to practice. He’s now charged with unauthorized practice of law and grand theft of nearly $88,000 in wages received while at Wilson Sonsini.
