Despite inconsistent testimony and a shaky identification, a jury yesterday agreed that Officer Charles Schwarz joined Justin Volpe in raping Abner Louima with a wooden stick in a stationhouse bathroom in Brooklyn’s 70th precinct in 1997.
After 2-1/2 days of deliberations, a panel of seven men and five women at federal district court convicted Mr. Schwarz on two counts of violating Mr. Louima’s civil rights in the bathroom attack.
