It may or may not be the final answer to paying off law school loans, but Matt Marcotte finds himself suddenly free of debt after an appearance on the hit ABC game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”

Mr. Marcotte, 22, a first-year student at New York University School of Law, won $250,000 on the episode of the show that aired Nov. 20, answering 13 questions correctly and coming within two questions of the $1 million top prize.
