DETROIT — Littler Mendelson, an employment law firm with more than 700 attorneys and 45 offices nationwide, is preparing to open a Detroit office, to be run by three attorneys who have practiced at the Detroit-based labor and employment firm, DeWitt, Balke & Vincent. The addition will complement existing offices in the Midwest, including locations in Chicago, Indianapolis and Minneapolis. The Detroit office will be located downtown in the Renaissance Center, also the world headquarters for General Motors.Littler’s move to Detroit comes as the region, as well all of Michigan, struggles to overcome a turbulent economy. “The current dynamics of the Detroit economy have created a strong need for highly competent labor and employment representatives, and in combination with the DeWitt attorneys, Littler’s collective body of knowledge and resources is well-suited to meet this need,” said Marko Mrkonich, managing director and president of Littler Mendelson. The Detroit office is scheduled to open May 1.
