BOSTON — Boston intellectual property boutique Lahive & Cockfield tapped Amy E. Mandragouras to chair the firm’s executive committee, a role akin to managing partner at the firm. Mandragouras, who specializes in patent prosecution, patent validity and infringement opinions and licensing, has been on the firm’s executive committee for five years. She succeeds Giulio A. DeConti, who remains on the committee after serving as chair for seven years. “[Amy] has played a significant role in the firm’s management and building the biotechnology patent practice,” DeConti said. “As we look to the future, Amy’s experience is well suited to lead our firm on a path of continued growth.” The 33-lawyer Lahive has historically hired and promoted a high percentage of female attorneys. Currently, 44% of the firm’s partners are female. The firm also reports that 57% of its patent agents and 64% of its technical specialists are female. Patent agents represent patent applicants at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and technical specialists are usually professionals with advanced science or technical degrees attending law school part-time. “Lahive is deeply committed to the advancement of women within the firm and I am pleased to see that tradition continue,” DeConti said.
