LOS ANGELES Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has launched a sustainability program to become more “green.” Specifically, the initiative, which is lead by Randolph C. Visser and Rafael F. Muilenburg, both partners in the global climate change practice of the Los Angeles-based firm, will increase energy efficiency, reduce waste and save money. Visser is a partner in the firm’s construction, environmental, real estate and land use litigation practice group in Los Angeles. Muilenburg is a partner in the real estate, land use and environmental practice group in the Del Mar Heights, Calif., office. About a dozen attorneys, including Visser and Muilenburg, are on the initiative’s committee. As part of the initiative, Sheppard Mullin is enrolling in the Law Firm Eco-Challenge, sponsored by the American Bar Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The firm also plans to launch an internal sustainability program Web site with information on the group’s efforts and a new blog in cooperation with the global climate change practice group that addresses California legal requirements.
