Patrick H. Higgins, formerly a partner in Philadelphia’s Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, has joined the expanding intellectual property practice of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott as a member in its Philadelphia office. “As the Philadelphia office continues to expand, specifically in the IP area, we recognized the need to attract accomplished lawyers who expanded the reach of our practice,” said Albert Bixler, member-in-charge of Eckert Seamans’ Philadelphia office. “Pat fits this mold. He is a very well-respected attorney and has unique industry experience which will enable him to add tremendous value to the service we provide clients in this area.” Since 1993, Higgins has handled the evaluation, development, enforcement and defense of IP rights and regulatory exclusivity for a range of pharmaceutical companies and other clients. He received his law degree from Widener University. Prior to law school, he worked as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. During this time, a major pharmaceutical company awarded him the Global Director of Research Award. Eckert Seamans continues to expand in Philadelphia, recently announcing the addition of Roberta Jacobs-Meadway, Jay K. Meadway, Bernadine J. Munley and Richard E. Peirce as Members, who joined Eckert Seamans from Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP.
