The University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis has selected David Wippman as its new dean, subject to approval by the school’s Board of Regents. Wippman, 53, will start in the position on July 1 if he is approved by the board, the school said in a press release. Wippman, a native Minnesotan, is currently the vice provost for international relations at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and is also a law professor there. Wippman, who attended Yale Law School, formerly practiced law in Washington, D.C., at Reichler & Soble from 1983 until 1992, becoming a managing partner, the school said. He also served in the Clinton Administration as a director in the National Security Council’s Office of Multilateral and Humanitarian Affairs from 1989 to 1999.
