Vinson & Elkins is strengthening its Middle Eastern presence with a new office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Houston-based firm, which has 13 international offices, opened its Dubai office in 2003. Lewis Jones, the administrative partner in charge in Abu Dhabi, said the firm opened the office because clients doing business in Abu Dhabi and in the Middle East needed expertise on energy law, corporate law, and Islamic and project finance. Jones transferred from the firm’s London office to run the new office. “Vinson & Elkins has developed a strong practice in the Middle East over many years and we are excited by the opportunities that exist in this fast growing market,” Jones said. Jones and current Dubai-based partner Christopher Strong will practice full-time in Abu Dhabi. Partner Rindala Beydoun will divide her time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
