Eleven current and former Miami city employees face public corruption charges after they were accused of running a private design business nicknamed "The Firm" on city time. Most of the employees were part of the capital improvements department's design team and include architects, engineers and planners. They are accused of using city resources to complete 24 freelance projects. Investigators said some defendants were spending six to seven hours a day of city time working on outside projects.
