Honored Alice Abreu , professor at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, recently received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching from Temple University. Abreu was one of six faculty members selected to receive the award, which recognizes academic excellence and teaching innovation. A 22-year faculty member at Temple, Abreu teaches a variety of tax courses including corporate taxation, international tax, tax policy and contracts, and also teaches in the law school’s summer program in Rome. Incoming secretary of the American Bar Association’s taxation section, Abreu is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and a member of the American Law Institute. Elected and Appointed The Supreme Court of Pennsylvaniahas announced that Robert L. Storeyhas been re-appointed to serve as one of two nonlawyer members of its Disciplinary Board. Storey, the former chairman of one of the largest wholesaler/brokers of fine wine and spirits in the state of Pennsylvania, will serve his second three-year term on the board.   Frederick A. Pettit, an associate in the Philadelphia office of Anderson Kill & Olick,has been selected as a member of the President’s Council of King’s Collegein Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Pettit’s practice concentrates in the areas of insurance recovery and employment litigation. Speakers Henry Ian Pass, a transactional and commercial litigation attorney in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., recently spoke about business and legal aspects of angel private equity investments at the Angel Venture Fair Education conference sponsored by the Private Investors Forum. Pass is a director of the Private Investors Forumand is also the managing director of Patriot Venture Capital Group.   Mark A. Holman, principal of Blank Rome Government Relations LLC, presented a session on advanced planning for mid-sized to large businesses at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s“Emergency Preparedness for Your Business” event, held recently at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The program, sponsored by Blank Rome, offered best practices from executives at regional and state level on disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and culminated with a national perspective on emergency management from former Pennsylvania governor and first secretary of homeland security Tom Ridge.   New Members Cavas S. Pavri , Glenn W. Reimann, Rachel Robbins, Carrie B. Rosenand Ilan Rosenbergwere recently elected to membership at Cozen O’Connor.
