Latham & Watkins nabbed a second former Enron prosecutor last week when Kathryn Ruemmler joined the D.C. office as a partner in the litigation department. Ruemmler, who stepped down as the deputy director of the Justice Department’s Enron task force in December, follows former task force director Sean Berkowitz, who joined the firm’s Chicago office in November. Ruemmler delivered the closing arguments in the trial of Enron founder Kenneth Lay and chief executive Jeffrey Skilling. She’s not an absolute newcomer to Latham, having done a two-month stint there in 2001 after serving as associate White House counsel to then-President Bill Clinton. Ruemmler says Latham was supportive of her decision to join Justice. “It was a huge factor in deciding where to go back to,” she says.
