SAN FRANCISCO Mark Mengelberg and David Roseman have joined Seyfarth Shaw as partners in the real estate group. Mengelberg, who was previously with Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis, is a 1998 graduate of University of Oregon School of Law. Roseman, who comes to the firm from Pillbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1981. Winston & Strawn has added Charles Moll III as a partner in the tax department. Moll, who was formerly with Morrison & Foerster, received his J.D. from George Washington University School of Law in 1979. Beth Pennington has rejoined Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker as an of counsel in the real estate department. Pennington, who was previously with DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, is a 1992 graduate of Boston University School of Law. William Vickrey, Kathi Pugh, Casey McKeever and the late Tanya Neiman were honored at the Public Interest Clearinghouse’s annual Opening Doors to Justice Benefit and Silent Auction on July 18. Vickrey, who is director of the Administrative Office of the Courts, was recognized for developing programs to meet the legal needs of children, families and self-represented litigants. Morrison & Foerster’s Pugh was awarded for her two decades of pro bono work, especially in the areas of civil rights, housing and homelessness. McKeever, chief consultant to the Assembly Human Services Committee, was recognized for his nearly 30 years as an anti-poverty lawyer and work advancing the rights of the underserved. Neiman, the former director of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Volunteer Legal Services Program who died earlier this year from cancer, was remembered for her advocacy of low-income and indigent communities. EAST BAY Attorneys Janice Amenta, Theresa Baumgartner and Kang Lim have joined Guichard, Teng & Portello in Concord. Amenta, who is a senior associate, was formerly with the Contra Costa County counsel office. She specializes in family law and civil litigation, and graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1992. Baumgartner, who is an associate, comes to the firm from Barr & Barr. She focuses her practice on civil litigation, estate planning and family law, and is a 2001 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law. Lim, who is an of counsel, was previously patent counsel for Sun Microsystems. He specializes in patent, copyright, trademark, trade secrets and licensing, and received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1992. De La Housaye & Associates in Walnut Creek has added Brendan Dooley as an associate specializing in complex commercial litigation and general civil litigation. Dooley was formerly with Fotouhi Epps Hillger Gilroy. He is a 1992 graduate of Tulane Law School. Partners Matthew Dambrov and Thomas Palmer and senior counsel Rebecca Powlan have joined Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean in Oakland. Dambrov and Palmer are members of the business and real estate groups, while Powlan is with the real estate group. Dambrov, who was previously with Robbins Palmer & Allen, graduated from New England School of Law in 1996. Palmer, who also comes to the firm from Robbins Palmer, is a 1966 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law. Powlan, who was formerly with Cassidy Shimko Dawson & Kawakami, received her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at University of the Pacific in 1986. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Orange County-based Rutan & Tucker recently created a housing and economic development practice group. The group was founded by partners Jeffrey Oderman and Dan Slater and includes associates Kerra Carlson, William Ihrke and Allison LeMoine-Bui. Gregory Evans has joined Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy as a partner in the international litigation and arbitration practice in Los Angeles. Evans, who was previously with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, is a 1989 graduate of Notre Dame Law School.
