Judge Michael B. Mukasey, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, will rejoin Patterson, Belknap Webb & Tyler as a partner in September. He first joined the firm in 1976, and left in 1988 to serve on the bench. During his tenure, he presided over several high-profile cases, including that of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and his co-defendants who were accused of plotting to destroy several New York City landmarks, and that of Larry Silverstein and his insurers dealing with insurance proceeds related to the World Trade Center site. He will become a member of the firm’s litigation group in addition to being active in the firm’s investigations practice and providing advice on corporate governance and media industry matters.

The former head of the corporate practice at Milberg Weiss Bershad &Schulman and two other attorneys have joined Epstein Becker & Green. ArnoldBressler, a former managing partner at Milberg Weiss, will practice as apartner in the firm�s New York office. He brings with him Wai Chan, who alsojoins Epstein Becker as a partner, and Carlos Ramirez, an associate. MilbergWeiss was indicted in May by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles on chargesthat the firm and two partners paid millions of dollars in kickbacks to leadplaintiffs in class-action and shareholder derivate lawsuits. At least 12partners have left the firm since.
