BURTON AWARDS FOR LEGAL ACHIEVEMENT James Miller is a recipient of the 2006 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. The awards are given to partners at 30 law firms from a pool of the 750 largest firms in the country. The Burton Awards, now in their seventh year, were established by William C. Burton to promote and reward the refinement and enrichment of good legal writing. Winners are chosen by an academic committee composed of educators from the law schools of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as leading members of the legal profession and the judiciary. Miller’s winning piece advocated that the Supreme Court should clarify punitive damage law while considering the impact on the entire trial process. The 2006 Burton Awards program will be presented at the Law Library of Congress on June 12. Miller is a partner in the litigation and antitrust practice at King & Spalding and is president of the Yale Law School Association.
