Just months after the passing of legendary lawyers Lloyd Cutler and John Pickering, the law firm that bore their names is now wiping them from the marquee — sort of.
The firm’s new marketing name, WilmerHale, is slated to be rolled out Oct. 1. Co-managing partner William Perlstein says lawyers at the firm will now refer to themselves as part of WilmerHale, a name secretaries will use to answer the phone and that will be branded on its marketing materials. But the firm’s technical, legal name will remain Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. That name will also still appear along with the new name on business cards and firm letterhead.
