DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR’S NATURAL RESOURCE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT AND RESTORATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE Barry Hartman, a partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham, has been appointed to serve on the Department of the Interior’s Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Advisory Committee. The committee’s members will advise the department on issues related to the natural resource damage provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. They will also develop recommendations for achieving ecologically sound, timely, and cost-effective restoration of natural resources injured by releases of hazardous substances or oil.
GREATER WASHINGTON INITIATIVE Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr recently joined the Board of Trustees of the Greater Washington Initiative. McLean, Va., partner Gregory Ewald will represent the firm. In addition, Pepco Holdings Inc. has appointed William Torgerson, vice chairman and general counsel, as an Executive Committee representative. The Greater Washington Initiative, an affiliate of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, is the regional economic development marketing organization that promotes the area encompassing Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and suburban Maryland as a premier business location.
HARVARD UNIVERSITY’S INSTITUTE OF POLITICS Benjamin Ginsberg, a partner at Patton Boggs and former national counsel to the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign in 2000 and 2004, has been selected to be a Resident Fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Resident Fellows will join the Institute for the fall semester and lead weekly, not-for-credit study groups on a range of political topics.
LEADERSHIP GREATER WASHINGTON The following three Washington, D.C., attorneys were selected as members of Leadership Greater Washington’s Class of 2006: Henry Brothers II, a partner at Holland & Knight; Francis Carter, a partner at Zuckerman Spaeder; and Stephanie Tsacoumis, co-partner in charge of the D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
