BAKER & MCKENZIE Mark Menefee has joined Baker & McKenzie’s global export compliance practice as of counsel. Menefee, 52, is the former director of the Office of Export Enforcement at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security. He received his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. FRIED, FRANK Kevin Harnisch, 34, has been elected partner in the D.C. office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Harnisch specializes in securities regulation and enforcement. He graduated from Seattle University School of Law. GIBSON, DUNN & CRUTCHER Brian Goebel, 33, has rejoined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as of counsel in the litigation and public policy practice groups. Goebel is the former counselor and senior policy adviser to the commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the Department of Homeland Security. Goebel earned his J.D. from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law. HUNTON & WILLIAMS Hunton & Williams announces the addition of two new attorneys to the litigation, intellectual property, and antitrust group. Both men joined Hunton & Williams as special counsel from Piper Rudnick. W. DeVier Pierson, 72, specializes in litigation with a focus on domestic and international energy fields and on international arbitration and litigation. He received his LL.B. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Knox Bemis, 65, focuses on commercial litigation, tax litigation, international arbitration and litigation, and contested agency proceedings. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. M.C. DEAN INC. Joel Bonfiglio, 46, has been named general counsel for both M.C. Dean Inc. in Chantilly, Va., and the company’s subsidiary, Openband Multimedia. Most recently he was a partner at Fleishman and Walsh. Bonfiglio received his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. NIXON PEABODY Christopher Wallace has joined Nixon Peabody as an associate in the franchise and distribution practice group. Most recently, Wallace, 33, was an associate with Schmeltzer, Aptaker & Shepard. He received his J.D. from Pace University School of Law. SHULMAN, ROGERS Philip Hochberg has joined Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker as special counsel. He specializes in sports law, entertainment law, and communications law. Most recently he was of counsel with Piper Rudnick. Hochberg, 63, received his LL.B. from George Washington University Law School. SIDLEY AUSTIN Sidley Austin Brown & Wood announces the election of seven attorneys to partnership in the D.C. office. Lisa Crosby, 41, is part of the international trade and dispute resolution group.
