South Bay Tomlinson Ziskohas added six attorneys to its corporate practice in Palo Alto. Partner Polly Dinkelreturns to Tomlinson, where she was a partner for seven years. Dinkel’s primary focus is technology licensing, distribution and joint venture transactions. She earned her J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1981. Michael Doranjoins as a partner, concentrating on corporate and securities law matters, with expertise in startup funding, M&A, corporate transactions and securities counseling. Previously he was with Carr & Ferrell and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Doran is a 1995 graduate of Stanford Law School. Of counsel Joan Paulpractices in taxation, partnerships, LLCs and other joint ventures. She had been a solo practitioner since 2001. She is a 1981 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. R. Michael Momboisse, special counsel, brings more than 20 years of experience advising and representing venture capital firms, as well as private and public companies, in all stages of development. He spent nine years as vice president and CFO of an engineering and consulting company. Momboisse received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1982. Associate Julee Fischerconcentrates on venture capital and business law, with an emphasis on venture capital financing, M&A, corporate formation and general business representation and real estate transactions. Fischer is a 2001 graduate of Indiana University School of Law. James Kwonjoins the firm as an associate specializing in high-tech and international clients. He received his J.D. from UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law in 1998. The Board of Directors of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley teamed up with Tiffany & Co. this month to honor Norman Blearsfor his service to the legal community. Blears joined the board of directors in 1996 and served as president and board chair for the fiscal year 2000-01. Blears is a Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe partner in Menlo Park and a 1980 Stanford Law School graduate. The foundation is an umbrella organization for five legal service programs. Manatt, Phelps & Phillipscorporate and finance attorneys T. Hale Boggsand Theodore Joneshave been selected by the editorial board of Aspatore Books as two of the leading venture capital lawyers in the nation. The pair co-authored a chapter in the recently released book “The Venture Capital Legal Handbook.” Boggs splits his time between the firm’s Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices and serves as co-chair of the business and transactions division. Jones is a Palo Alto-based associate. East Bay Ben Hamburghas opened an office in Berkeley. Most recently general counsel to BellaVista Capital Inc., Hamburg has substantial experience in real estate lending, complex litigation and construction-related matters. He is a former partner at Dinkelspiel, Donovan & Reder and Freeland Cooper & Hamburg. He graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1979. Southern California Bryan Jackson, a partner at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Malloryin Los Angeles, has been appointed chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s real property section. Previously he was chair of the construction law subsection and its executive committee. At Allen Matkins, Jackson is the co-chair of the firm’s construction law practice. He is a 1986 graduate of Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School. William Birney III, also with Allen Matkins, has received the President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement and Service by the LACBA. Birney received the award for his work helping coordinate the Barristers’ community outreach programs. He is also a member of the real property section of LACBA. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1999.
