San Francisco Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory has elevated three to partner, including David Blackwell in San Francisco. A member of the firm’s land use, environmental and natural resources practice, Blackwell focuses on land use entitlements and litigation. He received his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1990. Nixon Peabody has added employment law specialist Marjorie Fochtman as a partner. Fochtman, who joins the firm from Littler Mendelson, has extensive experience in preventative employment and labor law, discrimination and sexual harassment litigation, wrongful discharge litigation, employment training, wage and hour matters, and preparation of personnel policies and procedures. She received her J.D. from New York Law School. Brydon Hugo & Parker has added two partners and a senior counsel. Denis Shanagher previously was outside general counsel to Friedman’s Inc. and Crescent Jewelers. Focusing on complex commercial litigation, Shanagher represents both public and private companies in general business and compliance issues. He is a 1981 Hastings College of the Law graduate. Previously in private practice, Heidi Hugo focuses on insurance coverage. She received her J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1986. Vincent Marsella joins the firm as senior counsel. With more than 20 years of experience in civil litigation, his practice focuses on defense of long-term care facilities against elder abuse, wrongful death, nursing malpractice and fraud claims. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at Wright, Robinson, Osthimer & Tatum. He received his J.D. in 1979 from New England School of Law. Atlantis Langowski has joined Keesal, Young & Logan as an associate. Langowski, who practices securities and employment litigation, most recently was with Morrison & Foerster. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1999. South Bay Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges has added three partners to its patent litigation team, including Kevin Johnson in its Silicon Valley office. Formerly with Fish & Neave, Johnson has litigated numerous IP cases, ranging from integrated circuits to medical devices and casino business methods. He is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law. East Bay Randall Wulff, a partner with Oakland’s Wulff, Quinby & Sochynsky, has been chosen to lead a three-person appraisal panel to determine the amount of loss resulting from the destruction of the World Trade Center in the Sept. 11 attacks. The hearings will address issues of reconstruction costs as well as rental value/business interruption damages. As a mediator, Wulff has helped settle roughly 2,000 cases in the past 15 years. He is a Hastings College of the Law graduate. McDonough Holland & Allen has elevated three to partner, including Kevin Siegel in Oakland. Siegel practices litigation and transactional law emphasizing municipal, land use, eminent domain and constitutional matters. He currently serves as assistant city attorney for Calistoga. He earned his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1997. Sacramento McDonough Holland & Allen has elevated three to partner, including Seth Merewitz and Tyson Shower in Sacramento. Merewitz is a member of the firm’s redevelopment, public law and land use section where he represents land developers on complex land use entitlement and permitting matters. He is a 1997 graduate of UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law. A litigator specializing in construction law, Shower focuses on public and private contracting, mechanics’ liens, public and private stop notices and surety disputes. He also is a 1997 graduate of UC-Davis law school. McDonough Holland & Allen also has named Jeffry Jones its new managing partner. Jones succeeds David Beatty, who completes a three-year tenure. Jones joined the firm in 1979 and has a practice that covers an array of real estate transactions for both public and private-sector clients. He received his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific. Southern California Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory has elevated three to partner, including R. J. Comer in Los Angeles and Peter Townshend in Del Mar Heights. Comer focuses his practice on land use, administrative law, municipal advocacy and land use litigation. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1996. Townshend is a member of the emerging company and venture capital practice and the corporate and securities practice groups. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, corporate formation and maintenance, licensing, executive compensation and venture fund formation. He is a 1996 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law.
