AMERICAN CONSTITUTION SOCIETY FOR LAW AND POLICY The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy has unanimously elected three D.C. lawyers to its board of directors. Eric Holder Jr., formerly an advisory board member, is a Covington & Burling partner and former deputy attorney general. Paul Smith is managing partner of the D.C. office of Jenner & Block. The former chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Patricia Wald, is chair of the Open Society Justice Initiative at the Open Society Institute and was previously an ACS advisory board member. The ACS is a national organization of law students, judges, and scholars promoting a progressive vision of the law, policy, and the Constitution. FOUNDATION FOR RURAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Foundation for Rural Economic Development elected Carri Bennet, name principal of telecommunications law firm Bennet & Bennet, as a new member of the foundation’s board of directors. Bennet will serve as pro bono counsel for the organization, which promotes activities to improve rural educational, social, and economic conditions. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PRIVACY PROFESSIONALS The International Association of Privacy Professionals has appointed Kirk Nahra to its board of directors. A partner at Wiley Rein & Fielding, Nahra works in the firm’s privacy, health care, insurance fraud, and litigation practices. Sandra Hughes at the Procter & Gamble Co. in Cincinnati and Barbara Lawler at the Hewlett Packard Co. in Palo Alto, Calif., were also appointed to the board.
