AKIN GUMP STRAUSS HAUER & FELD Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has added eight associates in D.C. Nell Brown, 29, has joined the litigation practice and was previously a clerk for Judge Guy Cole Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. Brown is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Andrew Dober, 26, has joined the litigation practice. Dober, who was an Akin summer associate, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. Brook Gardiner, 26, has joined the labor and employment practice and is a graduate of New York University School of Law. Tanya Lennon, 29, has also joined the labor and employment practice. Lennon was a summer associate and earned her law degree at Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Carsten Reichel, 27, has joined the litigation practice and was a summer associate at the firm. Reichel is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. Thomas Simek, 26, has also joined the litigation practice. Simek was a clerk for Judge John Gibson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School. Kelly Smith, 25, has joined the labor and employment practice and was a summer associate with the firm. Smith received her law degree from Harvard Law School. Dharmesh Vashee, 28, has joined the financial restructuring practice. Vashee was a clerk for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Douglas Tice Jr. of the Eastern District of Virginia. Vashee graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law. KRUPIN O’BRIEN Krupin O’Brien has added three associates in the firm’s D.C. office. Heather Broadwater, 30, has joined the employment law practice. Most recently, Broadwater was an information specialist for the Society of Human Resource Management. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. Natalia Ferrari, 25, has joined the business immigration practice. Prior to joining Krupin O’Brien, Ferrari was fulfilling a legal fellowship at George Washington University Law School’s Immigration Clinic. She received her law degree from George Washington University Law School. Scott Kozar, 28, has joined the labor relations practice. Kozar was a law clerk for Judge Paul Pfeiffer of the Ohio Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Law. PAUL, HASTINGS, JANOFSKY & WALKER D.C.-based Mark Poerio has been elected partner at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. Formerly of counsel, Poerio, 45, specializes in executive compensation, employee stock partnership plans, employment agreements, and retirement plans. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School. WILEY REIN & FIELDING Wiley Rein & Fielding has added two attorneys in the District. James McKinlay III, 56, has joined as of counsel in the firm’s government contracts practice. Before joining Wiley Rein, McKinlay was an associate counsel at Pratt Whitney. He received his law degree from Boston College Law School and an L.L.M. from George Washington University Law School. Nancy Victory, 41, has rejoined as a partner in the firm’s communications practice. Victory was previously the assistant secretary of commerce for communications and information, as well as an administrator at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
