AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION O’Kelly McWilliams III, a partner at Pepper Hamilton, has been named to a three-year term on the American Bar Association board of governors. McWilliams is also a member of the ABA House of Delegates. McWilliams will hold the young lawyer member-at-large seat on the board, which meets five times a year to oversee administration and management of the association. AMERICAN BAR FOUNDATION Caplin & Drysdale founding partner Mortimer Caplin has been appointed to the American Bar Foundation board of directors. Caplin, 87, has been an ABF fellow for 25 years, serving as the D.C. chair since 1999. The foundation is the primary research arm of the American Bar Association. AMERICAN COLLEGE OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS COUNCIL Paul Hamburger, a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery in D.C., has been selected as a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He was also named as a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network. Hamburger has worked in the field of employee benefits for more than 20 years. APPLESEED CENTER FOR LAW AND JUSTICE The D.C. Appleseed Center for Law and Justice has elected three new board members: Alice Rivlin, director of the Greater Washington Research Program and senior fellow of economic studies at the Brookings Institution; Beatriz “BB” Otero, director of the Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center; and Sheldon Krantz, partner at Piper Rudnick. This election recognizes the new members’ concern for and commitment to the D.C. area. WOMEN’S COUNCIL ON ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT The Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment will be honoring Sheila Slocum Hollis with the Woman of the Year Award. Hollis is managing partner of the D.C. office of Duane Morris and specializes in domestic and international energy, water, and environmental matters.
