NEW POSITIONS . . . Christy L. Naylor has joined Winstead Sechrest & Minick as an associate with the litigation/dispute resolution section in Dallas. . . . Mitchel L. Winick joined the staff of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism as director of education and programming. Prior to joining the center, Winick was on the faculty of Texas Tech School of Law, where he served as assistant dean for three years. He is a former assistant attorney general of Texas. . . . Keith A. Langley has been named a financial partner in Dallas’ Godwin Gruber. Also, Christopher M. Joe joined the firm as an associate with the commercial litigation section. . . . Michelle A. Morgan has become a partner in Dallas’ Shackelford, Melton & McKinley. W. Michael Bonesio and Paul C. Webb have joined the firm as partners. ELECTIONS . . . Thomas M. Hoffman, a shareholder in Jenkens & Gilchrist in Dallas, was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the SouthWest Benefits Association (SWBA). Hoffman will serve as co-chairman of the education committee. SWBA is a regional, nonprofit association founded in 1975, designed to support the educational growth of professionals in employee benefits. . . . Michael Connelly, a partner in Connelly, Baker, Wotring & Jackson, was elected president of the Houston Bar Association (HBA). Other new HBA officers are Kent W. “Rocky” Robinson of Andrews & Kurth, president-elect; Glenn A. Ballard Jr. of Bracewell & Patterson, first vice president; Tommy Proctor, solo, second vice president; Gregory C. Ulmer of Baker & Hostetler, secretary; and Randy Sorrels of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Matthews & Friend, treasurer. Tom Godbold will serve on the board as immediate past president. Sales of Baker Botts. APPOINTMENTS . . . Michael A. Mc-Connell, a shareholder in the Fort Worth office of Winstead Sechrest & Minick’s business restructuring/bankruptcy practice, has been named a new member of the board of trustees for the American Inns of Court Foundation. McConnell will represent the states of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, and will take office on July 1. . . . Mary Jo McCurley, a partner in Dallas’ McCurley, Kinser, McCurley, Nelson & Orsinger, has become chairwoman of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. McCurley plans to use her tenure as chairwoman to heighten public awareness of the issues facing children whose divorced parents relocate. . . . Bryan K. Brown, a partner in Porter & Hedges in Houston, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Perry and confirmed by the Texas Senate to serve on the Texas State Securities Board. . . . Lynne Liberato, a partner in the appellate practice group of Haynes and Boone’s Houston office, has been appointed to the executive committee of the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast’s board of trustees. AWARD . . . The Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Profes-sionalism and the Travis County Bar Association honored Tom Watkins with the Texas Center Professional-ism Award at the TCBA luncheon on May 29. Watkins is the director and executive vice president of Hilgers & Watkins in Austin and leads the firm’s litigation section.
