Working for a Texas energy concern isn’t easy following the Enron debacle. Still, Eric Peterson, the new executive vice president and general counsel at Dallas-based energy company TXU Corp., enjoys the challenge. “The industry has moved in a direction where the spotlight is on us,” Peterson says. “We have to answer a lot of questions and respond to a lot of issues about the way we do business.” Peterson joins TXU after working as senior vice president and general counsel for DTE Energy Company, a Detroit-based energy concern. Prior to joining DTE Energy, Peterson, a 1985 graduate of Southern Methodist University Law School, was a partner at Worsham Forsythe Wooldridge (which later merged with Richmond-based Hunton & Williams), where he represented TXU in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions. Hunton & Williams will continue to represent TXU. But the company says that as its operations and business environment grows more complex and diverse, it is moving toward formally establishing the position of executive vice president and general counsel.
