Stephen Schaeffer, a Superior Court judge who served for 14 years in Hudson County and six in Morris County, died on June 7. He was 64.
Schaeffer was appointed to the Hudson County bench in 1982, and just two years later, he was appointed presiding judge of the Family Part. He held that post until he transferred in 1996 to the family court in Morris County to be closer to his home.
