In San Francisco we endorse defense attorney Jeffrey Adachi for public defender. Although incumbent Kimiko Burton has some good ideas — particularly her emphasis on elevating client interests above the drive to sharpen trial skills — we believe challenger Adachi has demonstrated a longer, stronger commitment to the public defender’s office and has earned the opportunity to run it.
