William Neary will become the government’s new top watchdog for bankruptcy cases in Northern California, Eastern California and Nevada on Tuesday. Neary is currently the U.S. trustee for the Northern and Eastern districts of Texas. He will continue in this role while taking over for Stanley.

It is unclear when the DOJ will appoint a permanent U.S. trustee for the region. A spokesperson for the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees said the process can take time because of procedures like background checks and security clearances.
