The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday blocked enforcement of a contraceptive insurance requirement against an order of Catholic nuns until its appeal is decided by a federal appellate court.

The order, issued by the full court, said the nuns do not have to fill out a federal form certifying that they object to that health insurance coverage for their employees or notify third-party administrators. They only need to inform the Secretary of Health and Human Services in writing that they are non-profit organizations that hold themselves out as religious and have religious objections to providing coverage for contraceptive services.
