Sergei Magnitsky, who died nearly four years ago under mysterious circumstances in Moscow, has been posthumously convicted of fraud in a controversial case that has contributed to a deepening rift between the Kremlin and U.S. government. The verdict comes two months after Russian authorities ordered a Baker & McKenzie lawyer out of the country and barred other Am Law 100 attorneys from entering Russia amid an ongoing dispute over U.S. human rights legislation named in Magnitsky's honor.
