The Georgia Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday that state law and the state constitution bar a county commission from reducing a magistrate’s salary in the middle of her term.
The decision was a win for Pike County’s chief magistrate, whose salary was lopped from $63,139 to $49,182 permanently by the county commission due to budget constraints.
